How do wireless TV speakers work?

We have covered different types of wireless TV speakers in their list. Each has its own modus operandi:

RF TV speakers: These are much like the RF headphones you get for TV. They have a transmitter base which is also the charging and storage dock. It is connected to the TV via a cord and kept out of sight. The speaker piece integrates the receiver. The transmitter and receiver connect through radio frequency. You do not need line-of-sight connection between the two.

Wireless Sound bar:We covered many sound bars which are Bluetooth –enabled. If you have a Smart TV, you can pair it up with a compatible Bluetooth sound bar without any wires to clutter your living room. Otherwise, you can use one of the myriad ports at the back of these wireless sound bars for TV and use the Bluetooth connection to link with smartphones, laptops and tablets.

Sound bar with wireless subwoofer: Many TV speaker systems are partially wireless. These have a sound bar attached to the TV either via wires or through Wi-Fi/Bluetooth. The subwoofer or satellite speakers are connected to the sound bar via a wireless connection. This way sound bar is positioned under the TV. The sub and/or satellite speakers can be stationed around you for immersive sound.

How to make my non-Bluetooth TV Bluetooth-enabled?

Yes, it is possible. If your TV has an audio-out jack, you can connect a Bluetooth transmitter to add this capability to your TV.  There are many transmitter-receiver kits in the market like 7dayshop Fusion Pro Low Latency Wireless Bluetooth Receiver and transmitter kit. You can also try the Indigo BTR9L wireless Bluetooth transmitterfor enabling connection between your TV and a Bluetooth speaker.

Which are the best wireless speakers for TV?

There are many constraints with wireless TV speakers. If you want a truly wireless setup, you should either resort to RF TV speaker or have a Bluetooth-enabled TV that is compatible with the sound bar. You have to check compatibility for HDMI inputs and check if the speaker supports Surround Sound through available ports. Keeping theses caveats in mind we checked the following factors while picking the best wireless speakers for TV:

Audio: As with every speaker round-up, sonic response was our first priority. We check for balanced sound with plenty of bass. This is a must-have for movies. If the speakers claimed to support Surround Sound, we checked if the soundstage and instrument-placing could create that effect.

Setup: TVs and speakers can be a complicated equation as it is. So we ditched all the speakers that have a complicated setup process. At least the speaker installation and basic settings must be easy to achieve.

Budget:Budget may vary from person to person. We picked low to moderately-priced speakers that gave us the best value for money spent on them. We set our expectations according price and checked if the speakers surpassed them.

Aesthetics: TV speakers are sizeable equipment. You want them to blend into your décor. So we picked up the sleek and sharp-looking speakers that will add to the clean lines of your television.

Best Wireless Speakers for TVVizio Inc. has taken giant steps since its inception in 2002. Their flat-screen televisions made a great splash in the market. Since then they have branched out to many entertainment peripherals.  Vizio SB3821 wireless TV speaker is a highly regarded system. This 2.1 set produces such prodigious sound that many expensive brands have bowed to it.  Its sleek looks, solid construction and unbeatable sound partner with a flawless Bluetooth connectivity for wireless TVs. We whizzed it right into our best wireless speakers for TV list.

Design and Features

The Vizio SB3821-C6is a petite and stylish 2.1 wireless TV speaker system. It measures 38 inches in length and has a 3”x3” square face. These side faces are done in metallic silver and carry minimal Vizio branding. The subwoofer is similarly good-looking and measures 8.25 inches in all directions.

There are two ways of connecting this Bluetooth TV speaker in wired mode to the non-Bluetooth TVs. That’s through an optical cable or an RCA cable. The optical cable is too short for our taste. Otherwise Bluetooth connectivity can be used to connect the Vizio SB3821 to any Bluetooth-enabled device. The subwoofer can be connected wirelessly within 60 feet of the sound bar. Its bass volume is changed through the Vizio remote but the sound bar volume can be altered via the TV remote.

Audio

The Vizio SB3821-C6 wireless TV speaker has the audio that can bring tears to your eyes, especially at the price. It rivals many highly priced speakers in this regard. The clear, open audio can be equalized to your taste with the Vizio remote and shoots up to 100dB. The dialogues are clearly enunciated over the background music. The subwoofer pumps out the low end like a boss. There is no distortion of bass at high volumes. It does not bleed into the mids either. The midrange is highly resolved. High frequencies sparkle with vigor and keep up with the bass.

The subwoofer comes pre-paired with the SB3821 sound bar. It cannot be extended into a 5.1 system. But its sonic response will eliminate the need for cheap 5.1 systems.

Pros:

  • Very lively, balanced and warm sound
  • Sleek and lightweight
  • Wireless subwoofer
  • Bluetooth, optical and RCA connectivity

Cons:

  • Optical cable is short

It sounds rich with a proper balance of mids, bass and treble.  The vocals are clearly enunciated. They convey dialogues much more clearly than the integrated TV speakers.

You can adjust bass and treble levels on the sound bar remote to suit your taste. The depth and amount of lower-registers in spite of a lack of subwoofer won us over. At this price, you cannot go wrong with SB2920.

Best Wireless Speakers for TVLG SH4 wireless TV speaker packs an awful lot of power for its puny size.  This speaker is an uncomplicated set that allows you to stream music via Bluetooth. There’s always the question of compatibility, so you check whether it will connect to your Bluetooth-enabled TV wirelessly, from the manufacturer. The wireless subwoofer is another useful addition that converts it to a 2.1 system. The loud audio bolsters it to a spot on the best wireless speakers for TV list.

Design and Features

The SH4 wireless TV speaker from LG is a set of one sound bar, one subwoofer and a remote control with way too many buttons. The sound bar is a simple black panel of 35 inches. It is only 2.1 inches thick. It can be wall mounted. The subwoofer is connected wirelessly to the sound bar so it automatically recognizes it the first time you turn them on.

This speaker uses an optical cable to connect to the TV if it’s not Bluetooth-enabled. You can also use dual RCA cable for the connection. The sub should be placed within 60 feet of the sound bar for proper reception. Set up is as easy as plug-and-play. For Bluetooth connection you will have to go through the steps mentioned in the manual. At its price, it’s not that expensive. But we were not impressed all that much with the architecture and features.

While the design left us on the fence, what really convinced us of the best wireless TV speaker status of LG SH4 was its audio. The sound got plenty loud for use inside the house. The sub delivers bass with a lot of oomph. We were surprised as how well these frequencies underscored the mids without spilling into them. The highs are crisp. No sign of sibilance taints them. • Separate volume control for bass

Cons:
